 Water Heater Recall

IMPORTANT -(NBC7/39 Story) Jan. 11

You Can Get Help For A Defective Water Heater, BUT ONLY UNTIL JUNE 30th, 2000 for reimbursement.

Thousands of water heaters in local homes are defective. If yours is one of them, you can now get it fixed for free.

The defective part on the water heaters is the dip tube. It moves the cold water to the bottom of the water heater, where the flame heats it. But dip tubes on many water heaters made from 1993 to 1996 are defective. They can break off or corrode.

“What the cold water will start doing is start mixing here in the top of the tank, so you can get lukewarm water. You get a very short duration of hot water,” plumbing company owner Walter Anderson told NBC 7/39.

A.O. Smith, Bradford-White, Rheem (Ruud), State Industries and other companies made the defective dip tubes.

For more information and details on free repairs, call (800) 329-0561. You can download the Water Heater Claim Form (PDF format) on the CLJG website http://www.capelajollagardens.com/water_heater.html

 CLJG Gardeners

M.C. Landscape Maintenance, Inc. have been hard at work around CLJG. They are quickly catching up on gardening issues that have been neglected.

Please review the gardeners action item list on the CLJG website. You can view their work schedule on our CLJG website: http://www.capelajollagardens.com/landscape_gardeners_schedule.html

Contact Leslie if there are any other areas which you feel need attention.

You'll find a short "hit" list on the back of this newsletter of the items they are concentrating on at CLJG.

Please refrain from asking the gardeners to do personal work on your private patio as this is forbidden in their work contract with M.C. Landscape Maintenance, Inc.

  Computers at Ralph's!

You can now access the Internet at Ralph's bookstore/coffee house for free! If you want to print, you do have to pay for each page. What a great service this is for those who don't want to invest in a system but may want to look for jobs, do some research, or send email!

 Lights Out?

We need some help keeping up with common area light bulbs burning out! If you see a light blinking or completely burned out, please contact Michelle at 270-7870 or email lholiday@menas.com, so she can add it to her maintenance list.

 Keypad Don't Work?

The batteries in the wireless keypads to open your garage are changed monthly. Sometimes the batteries just don't last long enough! If your keypad isn't working you can usually use the one across driveway on the other garages. Please contact Michelle at 270-7870, (Ext. 27) or email lholiday@menas.com, so she can add it to her maintenance list.

 Barbecue Grills

Just a reminder, because of the fire hazard risk, charcoal barbecue grills with loose coals aren't permitted on balconies. Gas grills are also a fire hazard, but when operated correctly greatly reduce the risks involved.
