LIFT-MASTER 1200 SERIES GARAGE DOOR OPENER RECEIVER AND REMOTE CONTROL PROGRAMMING |
|
|
Your
garage door opener receiver and remote control transmitter have been set at
the factory to a matching code. The door will open when you press the remote
control push button. Follow
the instructions below to program your opener to match any additional remotes
you may purchase. Your
"Smart' garage door opener will operate with UP
TO FOUR 'Smart" remote control transmitters (with green
indicator lights), a Keyless Entry System, or keypad entry code transmitters.
TIP: If you have all the remote controls with you that you want to program into the opener, it makes sense to erase all the old codes from the opener first, since there may still be the original condominium developers code programmed into it. |
WARNING |
|
Children operating or playing with a garage door opener can injure
themselves or others. The garage door could close and cause serious injury or
death. Do not allow children to operate the door control(s) or remote control
transmitter(s). A moving garage door could injure or kill someone under it. Activate the opener only when you can see the door clearly, it is free of obstructions, and is properly adjusted. |

To Erase All
Remote Control Codes ·
Press
and hold the green "Smart" button on the back of the opener panel
until the tiny little green indicator light (right next to the button) turns
off, (after about 6 seconds). It
helps if you have a ladder or are 6 feet tall to see the little green light
come on! All the codes the opener has learned will be erased. Do it again if
you don't see the little green light come on. To
re-add your remote controls, repeat Steps 1 and 2 (below) for each remote
control in use, as well as for the wireless keypad unit. To Add a
Remote Push Button 1.
Press
and hold the remote push button. See Figure 1. 2.
Then
press and release the green 'Smart' button on the back panel of the opener in
Figure 2. The opener lights on the panel will flash once. Now
the opener will operate when the remote control push button is pressed. If you release the remote control push button before the opener light
flashes, the opener has not accepted the code. To Add a
Keypad Entry Code Two people are required for this - one person
standing at the keypad (Figure 3) and the other person standing at the
opener. 1.
First Person
- Enter the desired 4-digit code on the keypad. Press and hold
the Enter button on the keypad. 2.
Second Person - Press and release the green 'Smart' button on the back panel of the
opener in Figure 2. The opener light on the front of the opener unit will flash
once. Now
the opener will operate when the keypad entry code is entered. Test it to
make sure. If you release the Enter button on the keypad before the opener lights
flash, the opener has not accepted the code. |

Model: |
750CB ('more or less' equivalent to the
Lift-Master Remote Model 81LM)
(This is the most basic
remote control, which works with your Lift-Master 1246LM, which looks exactly
like the current single button remotes, except with a blue plastic case
rather than black). NOTE: Don't
get the remote controls with "Security+" rolling codes (i.e. Models 950CB, 953CB or
956CB), as they are a newer design and they may not work with the Lift-Master
1246LM (1/3HP) Garage Door Opener unit that you have installed. For more info call Chamberlain at 1-800-528-5880 or visit their website at http://www.chamberlaingroup.com/ResidentialHome.html |

Notes: |
It's amazing that some CLJG condo units were
initially sold without this push button being installed! Interestingly, this
button was supplied in the original CLJG Homeowner's folder, but most folk
didn't know what it was for and threw it away. I know I nearly did! Anyway, this is the best invention since 'sliced
bread' and will save countless hours of frustration, when your arms are loaded
with groceries from the store and you can't easily punch in the code on the
wireless keypad, to close the door. You will also need: v
25ft of 2 conductor doorbell wire or similar, to
connect the push button to the opener box. (Cost: Less than $5). v
20 small wire clips to neatly secure the wire to
the garage drywall ceiling and wooden garage door frame. (Cost: Less than
$5). v
Tools - o
Screwdriver - to attach the wire to the push button
and the opener box. Also, screwdriver required to attach the push button to
the garage door frame. o
Hammer - to tap in the wire clips. o
Stanley Knife - to cut the wire to length and to
cut the insulation off the ends of the wire. o
Ladder - since the opener box is mounted on the
garage ceiling, unless you are 7ft. tall! You can get these items from HomeDepot,
HomeBase
or any other hardware store. Tip: Mount the push button just
inside the garage door on the same side as the garage interior light switch. If you look on Figure 2 above, you will see that
the control push button wire is connected to the two leftmost connectors on
the back of the opener unit, just above the Green button. The other wires on
the two rightmost connectors lead to the safety light beam sensor. |
